Ahhh the taste of a rudy's fish sandwich. Moved out of state, came home to Oswego to visit. Oswego never tasted so good. You get what you pay for, and Rudy's is well worth it. Keep it up!

Wow... I stumbled on this website by accident. It brought back memories. I
grew up in Oswego, even though I have lived in California now for 30 years. Both
of my parents passed away (in Oswego) so I haven't had much opportunity to get
back there - Looking at your website just brought back a flood of great memories
of taking that trip 'around the loop' just to get a hotdog. I think my father
was especially fond of your food. If I ever make it back to Oswego - I will definetely
stop by. I can still taste your food - and smell the lake even though I'm thousands
of miles away. God Bless.

Rudy's remains in my memories!! My grandparents lived in Oswego, every year
it was tradition to go to Rudy's. I am 29, and miss them and Rudy's sooo much.
My son even got to enjoy his first hot dog before my Grandma passed away. Hopefully
I will be back again someday now with son #2. Thanks for the memories!!

My boyfriend, Nick Sterio, told me about your establishment for months before
we finally made the long trip to Oswego from Jacksonville. I want to say that
he was absolutely right about how great the food was there. The staff was extremely
friendly, considering the size of the crowd on every occasion that we were there.
It seems that there is a gem from Oswego other than my guy, and Rudy's is its
name.

Love ya'll! Oswego was our summer home for many years. We leased a cabin from the Lupa's on the loop. Rudy's was the place to eat;our father would take us every Friday. There was 5 of us and we made sure to eat everything that was on menu before the end of summer. I finally visited in 2001 the craving for Rudy's food became unbearable during my third preagnancy. You guys have done a great job in expanding. We hope to visit soon. The Hernandez Family

I was born and raised in Oswego(Minetto actually). My dad worked at Niagra Mohawk and it was a big treat for him to take my mom and us kids to the"Loop"for fish and soft ice cream. We could run loose up and down the shore and skip stones and check out the 'moon-eye'fish. Nobody else anywhere I've ever been in the US knows what a coney hotdog is.Glad I checked out this site.Made me homesick tho.

My parents were born and raised in Oswego and though they settled in Ohio they never forgot Rudy's. Every visit home required at least one stop for a Texas Hot coney. We kids ate ourselves sick because those dogs tasted so good! My brothers and I have introduced our spouses to that treat, and we thank FedEx for a speedy delivery of real snappys from Hofmann's.

Hello my name is Danielle and I am a senior at the Oswego High School, currently I am taking and Economics class and for our final we need to do a paper on how the 2003 Ice Storm has effected local business. I was wondering if you could please tell me whether the ice storm helped or hurt business, how much money you made during the storm or how much you lost, if you had any damage how much it cost to make repairs, anything else you would like to add would be fine :). If you could please get back to me ASAP, it would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you,

Happy Days! I've ordered several pkgs of spice mix. A surprise for my husband. We miss our lunches and dinners at the loop. It's our first stop when we visit home. But now we can have taste of home from time to time. There is now a grocer here in the Atlanta area that sells Hofmann snappys and hotdogs. He is one of many Central New Yorkers who now live in the Atlanta area. Now if only you could ship my husband a fish sandwich and clams. It's all he talks about during the summer. I can't wait for the mail to arrive witht he spice pkgs. We miss you!!!!

Working at Rudy's from 1994-2002 helped me develop many workplace skills that have proven useful to me in my current field of teaching.
Also, during each of my job interviews this summer, at least one person asked me what it was like to work at Rudy's and how I managed to do so, proving that Rudy's is indeed a landmark, people as far away as Buffalo were asking me about working here. They also mentioned that they needed to get back to the "loop" for another meal, the interviews helped them develop the "craving"
Stay Well..

Hi,
I know this is a long shot but you just might know something about this person.
I have two oil paintings by an Oswego area artist named E.S. Hills (I think the E. stands for Elizabeth). I believed she died in the late 1960s. And I think she lived on Herrick Avenue but I don't know if Herrick Ave. is actually in Oswego.
I'm hoping to find out more about this artist. If you knew her or know anything about her I would be most appreciative if you would share it with me.
And by the way I do love your stand, the coney's, texas hot sauce and pickled eggs make a perfect lunch. My wife loves your fried fish sandwich.
Sincerely,
Kenn Speiser

Man do I love Rudy's. I remember going there as a kid with my Godparents and
aunts and uncles. I loved being by the lake and watching the sun set. I have since
grown and moved on to a career in the U.S. Air Force, but everytime I am home
to Oswego, the first place I can't wait to go to besides the Speedway, is Rudy's.
When I got married, I kept telling my wife that there was this place on the lake
that has always had awesome sea food, where you could watch the greatest sunsets
in the world each night of the summer. She thought I was nuts. I have since taken
her here, and now everytime we are "home" she can't wait to go to the "loop" and
eat at Rudy's. Keep up the excellent tradition, as I look forward to so many more
summers visiting home, and having some clams by the lake.

Hi all, as a lil kid, my dad took me to the loop. He told me later , that there was an amusment park there. I remember the White Horse, across the street and Rudys and other stands that have since closed."RUDY's hung in there ;)
I took my wife there and she didnt like fish, before that visit. She sure does when she can get haddock.
We were sitting in the car and talking about my memories. I told her of my dad, taking me out there to return a box of rocks. As we chatted , a car drove up and an old guy got out, opened the truck and dumped a box of beach stones. My wife and I both laughed as I asked the old man, if his mom made him bring his back to.With a smile he nodded and winked. Another great memory of Rudy's and the skipping stones. I'm 77 and still dreaming, now

The picture of your 2nd stand really brought back memories! I was born in Oswego in 1956 (lived in Fruit Valley) and remember many trips for soft ice cream and texas hot dogs. I remember lots of stray cats around looking for scraps! I left Oswego in 1963 but would love to visit again and have a bite looking out over the lake.

My family moved from Oswego to Chambersburg in 1963. I came along a few years later. Every summber, we went back to Oswego for 2 weeks, and every summer we ate at Rudy's at least 2 to 3 times. My parents are deceased now, but, whenever I visit Oswego every year or so, I never miss eating a fish sandwich at Rudy's. I'll see you in a few days. I can't wait to taste the fish and salt potatoes..WooHOO!

Hi Jason,
Remember me? The last of my kin is leaving Fulton this summer, so I doubt I'll be inspired to return to the wonder that is Central New York. However, having lived all round this great big world, I've yet to find a source for Coney Hots that rivals yours!
People say "You mean Bratwurst?"
and I reply, with a straight face, "No, Coney!"
"Coney? Never heard of it."
Rudy's is probably the only establishment in town that does better when the market is down, so business must be booming this summer. If you guys ever start delivering in the Pacific Northwest, I'll take two coney hots and an order of clamstrips!
Good Luck in the future and does Phish know you bit their Logo?

I was sooo excited when I found your website. My aunt and uncle lived in Oswego for many years. When I was a little girl my family use to visit my aunt and uncle each year for 2 weeks in August. I could not wait for them to take me to eat "around the loop" (thats what I use to call your place when I was young). I couldnt wait to bite into one of your delicious fish sandwiches(they were soooooo big and tasty ) and top it off with cold delicious chocolate milk! Umm I can remember it sooo well. I would love to look at all the big "stuffed" fish you had on display on the walls. Afterwards my parents would take me outside and let me throw rocks in the water and pick out three beautiful rocks I could take back to my aunt's house to paint. I believe those memories will last me a lifetime. I have not been back to your place or Oswego in over 26 years(my aunt and uncle moved to Florida many years ago) But I still remember those special summers spent by the beautiful lake and "arould the loop" . Im married now and have 2 great girls(14 and 8) . I plan to take my husband and 2 girls up to Oswego for a few days this August to share some of those beautiful memories of my childhood with them. I can hardly wait! And you can guess where our first stop will be :-) .

I have been visiting your establishment ever since I was very young. My brother and I have grown up with Rudy's. my wife and I now come and bring our children, who happen to be old enough to bring their families and loved ones. There isn't too many places left that we can pass down from generation to generation. It's even nicer to see the same employee's, brings it even closer to our hearts.
We hope to have many more years with you

My husband is a NY native, we live in Delaware. He took me to visit Oswego last year. All his family wanted to know if he was going to take me to Rudy's? I heard so much about your place and I was so thrilled to finally get there. I don't think I have ever eaten such wonderful food. I proudly wear my Rudy's tee shirt & sweat shirt, and share all my few memories with anyone who asks about Rudy's. I have twisted my husband's arm so much he is taking me back to New York and Rudy's this fall. Please don't close before we get there in eary September. I wish we could leave today. Been in the armpit of the south since 1995. They don't know what Haddock or Hoffman dogs are down here. Can't find it, neither. Remember my mom telling me how when they were first married and had me - back in 1956 - they would go to the Loop for a 25 cents fish and let me gum the bun as I sat between them in a 1947 ford. They went there the other day to eat for their 47th anniversary. Keep up the good work.

My parents grew up on Oswego and their parents grew up in Oswego county. Every summer, even though my grandparents; the Farnham's and Bardeschewski's; no longer are living, I now bring my children to RUDY's for a fish sandwich, or a Texas Hot. Onion pieced, too. Can't wait until next month to make our annual pilgrimage to remember all of the old stories and memories, and to make new ones with our children. Who would ever think that there would be a guestbook online, 50 years ago. Thanks for being a tradition in our lives. Take care.

As I was cruising along, while at OSWEGO STATE, I found the best place in the world to eat!!! Loved all the old/new photos, especially the 2nd Stand, of course, that's when I began testing Rudy's Cuisine! It's very difficult which one
to select in 1st place Rudy's or Lake Ontario (they seem to be both equal in that rating!). Sorry to say, the one thing
not missed is the 6 feet snowfalls, which of course, prevents anyone from venturing beyond the front one's abode.
Cheers and many more great years to Rudy and his family!

I grew up on Jackim Road (or Edgebrook, which sounds so much better) which is a short bike ride away from The Loop. So many of my Summers were spent biking down to the lake, or the college's video arcade, or to Bev's or Rudy's. When I was in college, my Dad would have me drive down and pick up two Blue Plate Specials for us for dinner. I have a lot of good memories of Rudy's. Hope I can make it up there this Summer!

My name is Edmund Marco and it's a pleasure to sign your guest book. I work for an advertising agency in London. Our agency represents marketing of products as seen on TV in England. Most of the infomercial products come from the U.S. but then again we export our talents as well. My brother has appeared in infomercials in the U.S. advertising various products. I think it's hilarious that English people respond so well to American products while Americans tend to respond well to sales people who have an English accent!

I grew up down the street from Rudy's and have eaten hundreds, if not over a thousand meals there. I moved to Massachusetts in 1987 and now only manage to make it back home to Oswego about twice a year. My visits now consist of this itinerary : First stop - home. Second stop - Rudy's. Why ? Because for 39 seasons the food has been excellent EVERY time. The only other place I can think of with that kind of track record is Wade's Diner. I've got to plan a trip back real soon - I'm starving here !! See you soon.

I grew up in Oswego and so of course eating at Rudys and gazing out upon the lake holds fond memories. Twenty plus years after having moved away, and no remaining family living in Oswego, nevertheless Rudys is one of the reasons why I manage to return at least once a year. It is now a tradition with my wife and daughter to always make sure we stop at Rudys around sunset, whenever we make it up to Oswego. We are especially pleased with the expanded menu that caters to vegetarians!

I miss Oswego so much. Going to " the Loop " and stopping at Rudy's and Bev's for an after dinner ice cream was the BEST !! I can smell the fish and french fries just looking at the photos !!!! I've been in the Mohawk Valley for almost 18 years now.I get back to Oswego about twice a year and now it is a MUST for me to bring my kids so that they can experience some of the best the Oswego has to offer. I fish sandwich at Rudy's the Lake mist blowing on your face, the warm Oswego faces, the seaguls and the #1 sunset in the world..... life just isn't better than that !!!!! "Two Tails and Chips" with clams on the side!!! There is NO competition for your food. Joanne and I have been patronizing Rudy's since we dated back in the 60's. We have been married for 32 years and STILL come back EVERY year. Our lives have taken us to many places but Rudy's holds many good memories for us. We have just purchased our retirement home on Little Sodus Bay in Fair Haven. But now I take my Mom and Dad and my son and realize that the long ride for Rudy's food is more than worth the trip. Great memories have been made by our family on your shores. Carol, I just had to share this with you. My sister who livesEDT)
Carol, I just had to share this with you. My sister who lives in Bayonne, New Jersey (about a 6 hour dirve away), decided one day at about 3:00 in the afternoon that she and my mom needed a Rudy's fix. They got in the car and drove as far as Amsterdam, spent the night, got up early the next morning to get here in time for lunch. I had no idea that she was coming, so when she called at noon and asked if I wanted to go to Rudy's for lunch, I couldn't figure out what she was up to. It took a few minutes for me to figure out that she, my mom and nephew were sitting in my driveway, laughing hysterically. We went out to lunch and they drove back to New Jersey, very satisfied in their less than 24 hour trip, I might add.

The grills worked but the fans did not so the heat became unbelievable. I didn't think we would be able to stay open. We not only stayed open, but the customers waited in that heat for a long time. Every year when I go to Oswego to see my family they see to it that I get to RUDY'S. They know my trip would not be complete until I got that wonderful fish sandwich and hot sauce. The apple dumplings aren't too shabby either!! Then there are the Texas Hots! Denise & Art are right--we can't get anything like it here in Florida. Your web site is great. Hi to the Byrne family!!

I first went to Rudys with my parents and my aunt and uncle in 1948. We lived in Syracuse at the time and my aunt and uncle owned Bucklands Grill (Molly and Ken Buckland). As a kid I always looked forward to a Texas Hot and time to skip some flat stones over the calm waters of Lake Ontario. Years later,('57-61), I went to college at SUNY Oswego, tended bar in Bucklands, frequented Nunzies, and ate a lot of Texas Hots at Rudys. I still go back to college reunions but Bucklands and Nunzies are gone, even the moon eyes have departed, but fortunately Rudys and a Texas Hot can take me back to some wonderful memories. Thanks

Hi Carol, We are now back in rainy Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, after enjoying 7 meals at Rudy's. We miss those coneys and fish sandwiches already and it hasn't been a day yet that we have been back home. I have been going to Rudy's since I was young and lived in Oswego, and now we try and come each year and mostly just to come for great food at your restaurant. It really is the best! As I told you last week we can not get good fish here . Would love to have a Rudy's open in Myrtle Beach along side our Friendly's.That would be two great restaurants together and doing well.
We will be sure to come in again the next time we make the trip to Oswego.YOUR FOOD IS SURELY THE BEST OF THE BEST!

I have been making 2 summer visits to Rudys since I was born, I am now 32 years old and I still make those visits twice a summer with my Father, who lived there as a boy and enjoyed it so much that we always make time to visit. There is nothing in the world like your fish sandwiches. We now have addicted my Husband to them so I am sure it will be a family tradition throughout our lives to make our trips to the lake for that ultimate Rudys experience!
Thank you so much for these memories I will always cherish!
